2024 USSSA Ball games II : final group game day preview – Netball

Overview

Time for calculations is finally here! Who needs what to qualify for the round of 16?

With a total of 80 teams participating in this year’s edition, teams were grouped in to eight. This implies each team plays a minimum of 9 games to qualify for the next round.

Prior to throw off of matchday 5, all teams have played atleast 6 games except group A and B teams who are only one game away.

Below we look at the possibilities of qualification in each group.

Group A

St. Mary’s Boarding School Kitende is already though to the round of 16 with a game in hand.

Blessed Sacrament Kimanya and Fort Portal SS tied on 11 points are the two most likely to join St. Mary’s Kitende at the round of 16 with Fort Portal needing to win with a very huge goal margin to boost their goal difference.

Mvara SS can only qualify if they win and Fort Portal SS and Blessed Sacrament Kimanya lose their game and with a huge margin considering the goal difference.

Group B

St. Joseph’s Bakhita perfect after 7 games booked their slot at the round of 16. One point separates Kadugala SS and St. John’s Kawuga and a win by any of the two would stem qualification.

Group C

Greenlight tops the table with a two point advantage over Gombe SS and Dynamic SS who both have 10 points. A win for Greenlight is what books them a top finish.

Group D

Pressure at its highest! Buddo SS and Madinah Islamic are top of the group tied on 14 points after 7 games. Meanwhile Kibuli SS is in third position, two points less. Anything could happen on the final day as far as advancing to the next round.

Group E

Kawanda SS proving too strong with an impressive 6 wins from 6 looks to be sailing all the way. As it stands Hamdan and Kajjansi Progressive will compete for 2nd place to advance to the best 16.

Group F

Baptist SS and Namagabi SS look destined for the next round as they are yet to lose a single game after 6 matches. The two will clash later alone in the day which will set the tempo for the rest of the group

Group G

Competition is still widely open and a lot of netball to be played on the final matchday.

Group H

With St. Noa still unbeaten after 6 games, St. Francis Busunju and Trinity Catholic are in top position to challenge for the two slots.

Meanwhile as the top two teams advance to the round of 16, the rest will embark on classification games to seal their National spots from 17 to 80.
