
The Sports Facilities Management Course level 1 came to a climax today evening at Ndejje University.
42 participants attained certificates of attendance from the Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association as they await the certificates of qualification from the Federation of Uganda Football Association.
The four day course kickstarted on Monday morning with theorry lessons before heading to the ground to put the knowledge into work.
Football Development Director at FUFA, Ali Mwebe was the chief instructor while teachers, headteachers and grounds’ men totaling 42 participants attended.

The course focused on pitch management mainly with maintaining the grass and positioning the goalposts in accurate positions.
On day 2 of the course, USSSA President Justus Mugisha visited the participants and urged them to set strategies for them to harvest in sports.
“We have given you the knowledge, it’s now time you set measures on how to gain from this training. Be strategic and position yourself.” Justus Mugisha during an engagement with the participants.
President further highlighted on the achievements of the capacity building training since it’s initiation in 2022.
“Since 2022, our main focus has been on capacity building and we have trained over 7000 teachers, students and sports enthusiasts. We have managed to give exposure to our products like referees and media officers at our national championships and at the international level.” Mugisha added.
The course continued with practical sessions on Wednesday morning before participants had a safeguarding class later in the evening.
On Thursday morning, the participants had a morning practical session before having a closing ceremony later in the afternoon.
Participants applauded USSSA for organizing the training and they hope to practice what they studied for the betterment of school’s sports.
Peter Okwi, the sports director at Ngora High School reveals that the course has opened his eyes.
“As you are aware that Ngora is hosting USSSA Ball Games next year, i have gained alot of knowledge which will help me in preparing for a successful championship. At Ngora we have two pitches after this course i have realized that they have some challenges and am going to make sure they are corrected with this knowledge.” Said Okwi.
Richard Muhumuza, USSSA EXCOM member presided over the ceremony as the chief guest.
He appreciated the intent of organizing this course and delivered a big message to the participants.
“We have been training in different sectors but we had neglected facility management which is key in our competitions. We are excited that the participants are ready to execute their knowledge and we have successful championships.” Richard Muhumuza.
Later on participants received certificates of participation from USSSA and will receive certificates of merit from FUFA.
The capacity building training at the national level will come to climax on Friday 13th in different centers.
