42ND USSSA ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING – as it happened

Overview

The USSSA Annual General Meeting was held at the USSSA Offices on GNS Plaza, Old Kampala presided over by President Justus Mugisha. The AGM saw a record representation for all the 19 zones of USSSA.

At the AGM, Justus Mugisha the USSSA president thanked the zonal representatives for working to see that competitions have been held right from the zonal level to the National level.

 He also noted a number of achievements reported this year which included clinching new heights in terms of participation in ISF competitions, adopting the online registration system, mass participation among others.

On ISF Participation:

This year there were four ISF championships and Uganda was among the very few countries from Africa that participated in all of them. We had volleyball teams in Serbia, football and basketball in China and also teams recently in Bahrain Gymnasiade.

On USSSA Weekend leagues;

This idea was brought up to keep our athletes busy throughout the year! In a scenario where a certain school plays two games and it is eliminated, to develop talents that have been identified the weekend league helps to keep monitoring and aiding their talent development and keeping them busy until the next championships.
The idea of Weekend league was taken up by Wakiso Zone. We put five million for every zone that would take up the idea of the weekend league and Wakiso zone has already taken up that benefit. So this is to inform the other zones that this five million is still on.

Online registration system:

“This year we introduced the online registration system where all schools were able to register athletes onto the system at their comfort. This system has helped us to streamline our games in as far eliminating non- bonafide students from our games and player movement between schools.
Previously, we had issues where the “small schools” were losing their players that they had groomed to “big schools” without even informing them. With this system player movement has been regulated”
