Overview
As one of the six disciplines part of the USSSA Ball Games II (FEASSA Qualifiers) this year, athletics got off to a flying start as student-athletes ran at the official opening ceremony of this year’s edition at Soroti Sports ground- Soroti City.
Key to note
While students compete under their schools in other disciplines, it’s a different case when it comes to athletics as teams compete as zones. Each of the nineteen (19) zones is permitted to bring athletes to a maximum of thirty (30).
Action in Soroti
The events of the competition as of last year will include the following for both men and women;
100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1500m, 3000m, 5000m, 4 x 100m, 4 x 400m, Short medley relay, long medley relay, long jump, Triple jump, high jump, shot put, Discus, Javelin and cross country.
According to Abdullah Muhammad the head of Technical Commission Athletics- USSSA, athletics will resume at Soroti Sports ground on Saturday 13th July to 17th July with a rest day on Tuesday 16th July.
