Thirty swimmers who excelled after the national swimming gala was held at Seroma Christian High School on 27th July have been selected to lead team Uganda at the Federation of East Africa Secondary School Association (FEASSA) championship in Bukedea district, 16th to 27th August. Swimming will take place at the newly constructed Bukedea Comprehensive swimming pool.
The team is comprised of fourteen girls and sixteen boys totaling to thirty.
The girls team composition
Six of the 14 girls are from British School of Kampala the champions namely Ssubi Mary Peyton, Sanford Charlotte, Kaitesi Blessing, Atukunda Tanja, Abigail Mwagale and Nabukeera.
Agakhan High School, Greenhill Academy and Elite High School-Entebbe will each have two swimmers on the team. Seroma’s Mwangi Karen won a medal in each position Gold in 50Meters butterfly, silver in 200 Individual Medley and bronze in 100 meters butterfly to emerge the only female representative from hosts. Lubiri SS too had Nakasule Rahma Kalungi winning two gold medals in 100meters backstroke and butterfly among others.
Katemba Karima, Mwagale Abigail, Mugisha Karla, Nabukeera Paula, Nakasule Rahma Kalungi, Namutebi Patricia and Mwere Sonia are not new to the competition they are going to face as they were part of the same team in Rwanda in 2023.
The boys’ team composition
Agakhan High School has 6 swimmers the most by any school in the boys’ category. Led by Aziku Ian who was at Greenhill Academy in 2023.Kings’ College Budo, Lubiri SS and Seeta High (Green Campus) will each be represented by one swimmer while hosts Seroma have three representatives.
Aziku Ian, Emaad Tumusiime K, Lubega Akram, Nahamya Malcom, Nyanzi Tebi and Mandre Joshua were part of the team in Huye, Rwanda in 2023 while Thembo Schwazkorff leads the other debutants.
