FEASSA Games: Ugandan Football Teams Experience Mixed Fortunes On Day 4

After a bright Day 3, Ugandan teams have struggled to find consistency at the ongoing FEASSA Games.

St Julian High School and Rines SS are among the teams that suffered their first defeats, while defending champions Kawempe Muslim shared spoils with another Ugandan side.

In girls’ football, Rines SS’s winning start was halted by Kenya’s champions Butere Girls, who have now won two of their three games and drawn one.

Rines’ defense played a crucial role in taking the game to halftime level, but they couldn’t hold on until the 80th minute, losing 2-0.

St Noa Girls’ shared spoils with defending champions Kawempe Muslim Secondary School 1-1 at Bukedea Comprehensive Sports Complex. Sumayiah Nalumu gave St Noa the lead at the stroke of halftime in the 37th minute, but Monica Nanono equalized early in the second half.

Amus College bounced back from consecutive losses to win their first game 4-1, keeping their knockout stage hopes alive.

A motivated Amus team targeted a heavy win, scoring a first-minute goal through Tamisi Shafiga, followed by a brace from Opisa Shaylne and another goal from Aujat Doreen.

In the boys’ category, St Julian High School suffered their first defeat against Rwanda’s APE Rugunga SS 2-1, pausing their winning streak.

Hosts Bukedea Comprehensive suffered a setback with a goalless draw against St Joseph Kitale at their own stadium.

St Mary’s Kitende and Amus College had an off day, and all teams will return to action on Friday.

Despite Bukedea having five points from three games, goalkeeper Humphrey Oyirwoth is proving his worth with three clean sheets in three games.
