St Mary’s Kitende Vs Amus College

Ugandan sides Amus College and Bukedea Comprehensive met at the semi finals of the FEASSA Games 2024 in a promising highly contested game however it turned into an easy work for Amus.

In a fully packed Mbale Stadium, the two met for the fourth time this year but Amus’ strong record over Bukedea continued with a 2-0 win thanks to Davis Busuulwa and Ijosiga Mudasir goals.

The derby, rivalry characteristics couldn’t hold on for more than three minutes as Bukedea’s Emanuel Mubiru was sent off.

This could have changed Bukedea’s mentality but the boys kept on playing well having a share on the ball before Amus started dominating the play in the 25th minute which caused tension in Bukedea’s defense leading to numerous fouls and a yellow card for their captain Humphrey Oyirwoth.

In the 37th minute, Davis Busuulwa broke the deadlock with a powerful header into the top right corner thanks to a well delivered cross from Bashir Mansoor. The game went to half time with Amus in the lead.

Amus returned more hungry looking for a second goal which they found in the 51st minute courtesy of a tap in from substitute Ijosiga Mudasir after the danger man Bashir Mansoor doing all the donkey work.

Amus dominated the rest of the play before the full time was blown to confirm their final slot.

In the other semi final played earlier, St Mary’s Kitende beat Musingu Secondary School from Kenya 1-0 thanks to Farouq Tumwesigye’s lonely strike in the second half.

A more improved Kenyan side was seen holding Kitende until the 68th minute when Farouq Tumwesigye controlled a loose ball inside the box and took a powerful shot that found the back of the net.

Defending Champions will now be looking forward to their 16th FEASSA title while Amus will be eyeing for their first East Africa’s prestigious title.

This will be the fourth time the two will be meeting in a period of two years. Of the three they have met St Mary’s Kitende has won twice and once for Amus which came this year at the USSSA National Secondary Schools Football Championship.

St Mary’s against Amus is another mouth watering fixture since none has managed to beat another in normal time.

2023 at the National Football Championship in Fort portal, St Mary’s beat Amus 5-3. At this year’s nationals, Amus revenged with a 10-9 penalty shootouts win following a goalless draw.

The game will be a repeat of last year’s FEASSA Games final held at Kamena Stadium in Huye Rwanda that saw holders Kitende beat Amus 4-2 on penalty shootouts following their one all draw in normal time.

The game will be played at Amus College Stadium at 11:00 AM and will be live on USSSA TV(YouTube) and FUFA Tv
