Inaugural USSSA Sports Management and Administration course kicks off.

A 3-day sports and administration course has kicked off at Kibuli.The participants are executive committee members of both USSSA and UPSSA (Uganda Primary School Sports Association) and zonal chairpersons, secretaries and delegates.

Day one had a total of four topics introduced to the one hundred and fourteen participants from 19 zones at Kibuli SS.

Mr. Okanya Patrick, President Emeritus set the ball rolling with an interactive session.

Topic 2: Safeguarding in Sports Association by Ayebare Patricia a certified IOC safeguarding officer explained.

Ms. Ayebare outlined the common misconceptions for example it is a women’s only problem or safeguarding is something that affects just the children. emphasized the need to look after the athletes not only during competitions but even at school and home.

Topic 3: Sports Law and USSSA regulations by Sajjabi Vincent a lecturer at Makerere University.

Mr. Sajjabi told the participants to make sure they read and understand the National Sports Act 2023 because it has implications on school sports across the country.

The participants were also told that they should be able to understand that rules are structures but most importantly how to apply these rules in face of dispensing off sports disputes from their areas of jurisdiction.

Topic 4: Sports structures, stakeholders and obligations by Mugisha Justus USSSA President.

The president explained how much USSSA aspires to live in the modern day governance and management with ICT integration for example the online enrollment system.
