Kampala, March 3, 2025 – The Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) has officially released the first list of secondary schools that have registered for the 2025 National Secondary School Championships. The championships, which will be held at district, zonal, and national levels, are expected to attract intense competition among schools across the country.
Growing Participation in School Sports
With hundreds of schools already enrolled, the 2025 edition promises to be one of the most competitive yet. Schools have registered in various sports disciplines, including football (boys and girls), netball, rugby, basketball, volleyball, hockey, athletics, and more.
Some of the notable participating schools include:
- Busoga College Mwiri (Football Boys, Rugby 15s Boys)
- Kibuli Secondary School (Basketball, Lawn Tennis, Football U20)
- Bweranyangi Girls Secondary School (Hockey Girls, Football Girls)
- Jinja Senior Secondary School (Football, Rugby, Basketball)
- Ntare School (Basketball, Rugby, Hockey, Table Tennis)
- Mukura Union Vision Secondary School (Football, with over 100 boys registered)
This year’s competition will feature both traditional sports powerhouses and emerging schools looking to make their mark.
Call for More Schools to Register
The Association encourages more schools to enroll before the final registration deadline (7th March 2025). Headteachers and school directors are urged to confirm their participation and ensure compliance with USSSA rules and regulations.
