Football fever hits Lango as Zonal Championships kick 0ff next week-road to teso

The stage is set for the USSSA Lango Ball games I Championships 2025, scheduled to take place in Lira City from April 7th to 12th, 2025. The championships will feature top schools from the Lango zone, competing in both boys’ and girls’ categories.

A total of 9 districts and 1 city will be represented in the championships, with each district fielding two schools in both the boys’ and girls’ categories, while Lira City and Apac District have three slots each. The qualified schools were determined through a series of district-level competitions.

In the boys’ category, defending champions Mentor SS from Lira City will face stiff competition from schools like Lira Town College, King James Comprehensive, and Faith SS, all from Lira City.

In the girls’ category, defending champions Acaba SS from Oyam District will look to retain their title against strong contenders like Topstar SS, King James Comprehensive, St. Katherine SS, and St. Mary’s Magdalene Girls’ School, all posing a threat to the defending champions.

The championships will be hosted by Dr. Obote College and St. Mary Magdalene SS, both from Lira City. The event promises to showcase the best of football talent from the Lango zone.

The top performers will earn a spot to represent Lango zone at the national championships. Specifically, the best three boys’ teams will proceed to compete in Ngora, while the top two girls’ teams will head to Bukedea for the ball games.
