USSSA Acholi: Sacred Heart SS Successfully defends the girls title

The USSSA Acholi zonal qualifiers came to close yesterday at Pope Paul VI in Nwoya with a total of 2 basketball and 46 football teams from the 8 districts and 1 city of Acholi zone and a total of 1052 participants taking in football and basketball

The closing ceremony was graced by the RDC as the guest of honor and the LC V of Nwoya district. Other key figures included the DPC Nwoya and the mayor Anaka town council

“I want thank USSSA Acholi for giving us this opportunity to host and gain experience. We had a total of 44 teams and very disciplined. We didn’t experience any hooliganism” Lucy Okot Akello, host headtecher

USSSA 2nd vice president Okot p’btek thanked the DPC Nwoya for providing security and the community for supporting school sports.

The girls’ title was won by Sacred hearts SS after edging restore leadership by 4 goals to 1 in the finals while in the boys’ category, Bishop Angelo Negri defeated Lagwai Seed SS by 2 goals to nil in the finals.

History repeated it’s self since these two teams won at the very venue way back in 2016 and the same has happened this year.

These teams will represent Acholi Zone at the national championship in Ngora and Bukedea next month
