Namilyango College vs Kings’ College Budo in central schools’ derby-
Wakiso zone Kings’ College Budo will face Mukono zone’s Namilyango College at Mbale Rugby Union grounds,Busamaga at 9:00am.
The Red lions of Kings’ College Budo are looking to make it three consecutive National titles while Namilyango’s anchors are eager to lift a national’s trophy since 2022.
The two teams met a month ago at the Central Uganda Rugby Union schools league final at Makerere University grounds where Kings’ College Budo emerged victors with a 29-17 score.
Semi-finals
King’s College Budo beat Busoga College Mwiri during the semifinal. This was Mwiri’s second appearance at the rugby 15s National (The first being at Ndejje SSS in 2024).
In the second semi-final Namilyango deafeted Jinja SSS .This is Jinja SSS first appearance in rugby 15s at the Ball games 1 Competition.
Jinja Senior Secondary School displayed resistance giving a challenge to Namilyango College. Namilyango’s Wakholi Joshua broke the silence with a try in the first half to give Namilyango College the lead and Jinja SSS ended the first half with a penalty kick to reduce the gap.
Both teams returned to the second half with new strategies but Namilyango’s efforts outweighed those of Jinja SSS pushing the final score to 24-06 with tries from Nyonyintono Titus, Sebalijja Ambrose, Kato. What a tight game it was!


“We made many mistakes, ball retention was a problem for us, but the boys carried the ball well, and we delivered the result.Whoever comes (in the final), we will play rugby,” Brian Makalama, Coach Kings’ College Budo


On whether winning the 3rd straight final for three consecutive years is the intention Makalama had this to say. “We are taking it game by game and this one is also here”.


Jinja SSS are the rugby 7s defending Champions .Rugby sevens is one the Ball Games II disciplines and this year’s competition will take place at St. Peter’s College Tororo later in July.


The final and only girls game of the day saw Nkoma SS win a trophy on home soil when they beat defending champions Airforce SS Entebbe. Three girls’ teams turned up for the tournament and all three qualify fot the East Africa games in Kenya later this year.
