22nd edition of FEASSA Games officially opened in Kakamega.

The 22nd edition of the Federation of East Africa Secondary Schools Sports Association (FEASSA) Games was officially opened on Friday 15th August.

Dr. Julius Migos Ogamba, the Cabinet Secretary Ministry of Education in Kenya who represented the president H.E William Kipchirchir Samoei Arap Ruto was chief guest at the grand opening.

Although competitions kicked off yesterday across various venues, the official opening ceremony has marked the symbolic start of this year’s championship.

Team Uganda, the overall champions for the past four editions, are in Kakamega aiming to defend their crown and secure a fifth consecutive title.

The FEASSA President, who also doubles as the Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) President, Justus Mugisha was also in attendance and commended the good job done by the host nation (Kenya) in organizing this edition successfully.

In his speech, Dr. Migos welcomed the crowds to Kenya and stressed the significance of these games.

“The FEASSA Games foster a spirit of unity and amplify the power of the youth. There is regional integration through the shared values. We welcome you all to Kakamega. Have a memorable experience” Dr Migos spoke.

With thousands of athletes, coaches, officials, and fans in attendance the games were officially declared open.

The 22nd edition of the FEASSA games is set to run from 12th to 23nd of August where champions will be crowned.
