Jinja Secondary School 1(2)- 1(4) JIPRA
Jinja Progressive Academy (JIPRA) win by 4-2 after penalty shootouts against Jinja SS to lift the district trophy.
The final between the two sides was held on Monday 4th April 2023 at Kakindu Stadium.






In a final that was played at Kakindu stadium in Jinja, the two sides played to a 1-all draw during the normal time.
JIPRA through James Jarieko earned his side an early 2nd minute 1-0 lead before Jinja SS Reagan Isabirye leveled matter in the 31st minute.
“I’m very grateful for a promise fulfilled. It’s just the beginning and so much more coming”, said JIPRA captain James Jarieko.
Jinja SS skipper Raymond Barasa expressed the game as a disappointing one and promised to bounce back stronger.
- “I’m very disappointed because we aren’t used to losing. We are to go back to the drawing board and we shall bounce back stronger than before”. He said.
In their road to the final, JIPRA topped group H with maximum (18) points scoring 15 times against their opponents to book round of 16 slot.
They beat St. Steven Budondo 4-0 in the round of 16 before another 4-0 win against Lubani in the quarter-final stage.
They won 4-2 against Lakeside SS to book a final date with Old rivals.
On the other hand, Jinja SS who led group A eliminated Jinja College (JICO) by 1-0 in the quarter-final before their 2-0 win against Jinja Comprehensive in the Semi-final.
JIPRA goalkeeper Adrian Isabirye was the hero with two penalty saves from Icon Jordon and Churchill Ochan’s shots.
Only John Owino and Alvin Wanume scored Jinja S.S’ kicks.
JIPRA’s Lookman Lwanga, Sowedi Lwenda, Sudice Ngobi and skipper Jarieko scored past goalkeeper Azizi Saleh.
Both JIPRA and Jinja S.S will represent Jinja district at the forthcoming Eastern region zonal championships due in Iganga district.
