For Immediate Release; Kabale, Uganda – The Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA), in collaboration with the Association of Secondary Schools Head Teachers in Uganda (ASSHU) and the Ministry of Education and Sports (MoES), is thrilled to announce the upcoming Secondary School National Ball Games II Championship. The championship will take place at St Mary’s College Rushorooza in Kabale District, Kigezi Zone, Western Uganda, from 9th to 18th July 2023.
The Secondary School National Ball Games II Championship is a highly anticipated annual event that brings together schools from various parts of the country to compete in a range of sports disciplines. This year’s championship promises to be even more exciting as it introduces new sports categories, including Football U14, Beach Soccer, Lacrosse, and Beach Volleyball.
The championship will feature a diverse lineup of sports disciplines, allowing both boys and girls to showcase their skills and sportsmanship. Participants will compete in Football U14/U16, Netball, Athletics and Cross Country, Handball, Basketball 3×3, WoodBall, Volleyball, DanceSport, Rugby 7s, Football U14, Beach Soccer, Lacrosse, and Beach Volleyball.
One notable highlight of the championship is the Football U14 category, where all participating school teams will have the opportunity to qualify for the CAF African School Championship in 2024, amplifying the stakes for this age group.

The USSSA, ASSHU, and MoES have conducted a meticulous final inspection of accommodation and competition venues and facilities from Sunday, June 11th, to Tuesday, June 13th, 2023. The inspection team, consisting of representatives from various education and sports bodies, evaluated St Mary’s College Rushorooza and other selected venues, ensuring they meet the required standards for the championship. Accommodation for the participants has been allocated at St Mary’s College Rushorooza for girls, while boys will be accommodated at St Maria Gorreti Primary School and St Theresa Primary School.
The competition venues have been carefully selected to ensure optimal playing conditions and spectator experience. The venues include Kigezi College Butobere 1, Bubare Play Ground, Kigezi High School, Ndorwa Primary School, St Paul Seminary Kabale, National Teachers College (NTC) 1 – Kabale, Hombe Primary School, Kabale Municipal Stadium, Kabale University Play Grounds, Kigezi High School Kabale Lower, and St Mary’s College Rushorooza.
