
Uganda dominates Table Tennis and Badminton at 2023 FEASSSA Games in Huye, RWANDA
Uganda has dominated Table Tennis at the 2023 Federation of East Africa Secondary Schools Sport
Association (FEASSSA) Games in Huye city, Rwanda.
Uganda won two gold medals (boys and girls) as well as one bronze (girls) as the Table Tennis competition climaxed on Thursday.
Kibuli Secondary School (Uganda) won the two gold medals for either gender.
Kibuli S.S stopped Mbogo College in the girls’ final 3-1 before fighting tooth and nail to overcome
Kawanda S.S 3-2 in the boy’s final.
Teenage players Parvin Nangonzi and Jemimah Nakawala inspired the girls’ team for Kibuli S.S
whilst Samuel Ankunda Mbabazi, Tendo Kasoma and captain Phillip Napokooli were unstoppable for the boys.
Their head coach Alvin Katumba, fresh from a working trip in Cote D’Ivoire attributed the success to affluent preparations.
“We prepared well for the tournament. Also, the pairings were properly planned and the victory did not come by a mistake. I am humbled for the victory. Special thanks go to the players and school management” Katumba remarked. Jalia Nanduttu (Mbogo High) and Samuel Mbabazi
(Kibuli S.S) were the girls and boys’ MVP’s respectively.






Bronze Medal matches:
Meanwhile, Mbogo High defeated Kenya one 3-2 to win the bronze medal for the girls.
Kenya (St Joseph’s High School Kitale) secured the bronze after overcoming Rwanda one by 3-1 in the third place play-off match.
Table Tennis, Badminton, Swimming and Goal-ball (for the visually impaired cluster) are the in-door disciplines at FEASSSA Games.
Uganda was also dominant in Badminton and swimming.
The games take a break on Friday and will resume on Saturday.
The other cluster of games include soccer, athletics,volleyball, basketball (3×3 & 5×5), Rugby (7’s & 15’s),Handball, Hockey, Tennis and Netball.
These games will officially climax on 27 th August 2023 with a prize giving ceremony at Huye International Stadium.
Uganda is the defending champion after triumphing at the previous games held in Arusha city, Tanzania.
