New Disciplines Added for Kibuli SS:

For the January sessions at Kibuli SS, USSSA is excited to introduce specialized courses in Rugby (Coaching and Umpiring) and Beach Soccer (Coaching and Refereeing). These disciplines are exclusively available at Kibuli SS, providing a unique opportunity for participants to delve into the intricacies of coaching and officiating in these exciting sports.

Call to Register:

Following the successful December capacity-building sessions, where over 500 participants were qualified as coaches, referees, reporters, and first aid specialists, USSSA invites all enthusiastic individuals, especially those interested in Rugby and Beach Soccer, to register for the upcoming January sessions. These participants have completed the beginners’ level in their respective sports and disciplines.

During the week-long course, held at Kibuli Secondary School (347 participants), Ntare School in Mbarara (112), and Lira Town College (96), USSSA focused on equipping participants with foundational knowledge essential for their roles in sports.

USSSA President, Justus Mugisha, emphasized the importance of qualified coaches in improving the performance of schools at regional, continental, and global levels. He expressed gratitude to various sports federations for their support and announced a new prerequisite for schools to participate in USSSA competitions – having young trainees embedded in their technical teams.

The Commissioner of Physical Education and Sports in the Ministry of Education and Sports, Rev. Canon Dr. Duncans Mugumya, highlighted the positive impact of early training, especially in refereeing, to address the challenge of a shortage of international referees in the country.

Opportunities and Growth:

The January sessions offer a unique opportunity for participants to advance their skills and contribute to the growth of sports in Uganda. With a focus on coaching, refereeing, reporting, and first aid, USSSA aims to create well-rounded and qualified individuals who will play crucial roles in the development of sports at various levels.

USSSA encourages all interested parties, especially those with a passion for Rugby and Beach Soccer, to seize this opportunity and register for the January capacity-building sessions.
