Joshua Mandre and captain Paula Nabukeera were the pick of Uganda’s performances in the first session of swimming at the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa (ANOCA) School Games in Annaba, Algeria.
Sixteen year old Mandre completed his 50m butterfly race in the boys’ category in 29.30 seconds to finish 9th.
Nabukeera was also 9th in the girls’ 50m freestyle finishing in 30.32 seconds.
Abigail Mwagale was 11th with a time of 31.92 seconds.
Emaad Kodet Tumusiime was 11th in the 100m backstroke with a time of one minute, 13 seconds, and four microseconds (1:13.04). Here, Mandre was behind Tumusiime with a time of 1:15.89.
Mandre and Nabukeera are on the reserve list for the 50m butterfly and 50m freestyle finals this evening.
The ANOCA Games officially started on 26th and will come to a close on 5th August 2025.
