The USSSA Athletics training camp is ongoing at Old Kampala Secondary School.The camp started on on 9th January 2023 and will end on 28th January.
A total of 74 students from all over the country are being trained in several track and field events such which include middle distance races (800m,1500m and 3000m) , short distance sprints (100m, 200m and 400m). Other disciplines include shot put, discuss ,high jump, long jump and cross country.
The students who are between ages twelve to nineteen are from districts such as Kitgum ,Katakwi,Otuke, Gulu, Serere,Jinja,Oyam ,Masindi,Wakiso,Masindi, Agago, Rukungiri,Ngora, Lamwo,Soroti,Kween,Bukwo,Kapchorwa, Hoima,Kabarole,Omoro,Arua,Abim ,Kumi,Tororo,Moyo,Kampala,Wakiso and Butambala.
Students will be selected to participate in ISF World School Championships,Athletics in June 2023 in Trabzon,Turkey and the ISF Gymasiade in August 2023 in Rio de Janeiro ,Brazil.
The selected participants will continue training and will be assessed during the months leading up to the above events.
