About 150 schools will be competiting for different titles in the champiship that will climax on April 26 with the clos
Record winners and national secondary Schools girls football defending champions Kawempe Moslem started their title defense with a 5-0 thumping of Kibingo Girls Sheema as the A Hadijah Nandago double and a goal apiece from Susan Nalukodda, Samalie Nakacwa and Allen Nassali ensured Kawempe started right in a tough group A where fast improving Olila Girls saw off Nyondo SS 3-0.
These games’ biggest highlight will be the girls’ rugby being played for the first time in the games’ history, where 6 of the qualified teams will battle for the maiden accolade: – USSSA president Patrick Okanya called ‘a successful beginning’.
“Yes today we conducted the draws for both girls football and the basketball for both girls and boys, why we conducted them here not at the venue, it’s to give chance to these schools to get ready before the kick off date.” He said before adding, “last time we had 32 teams in girls football but we decided to add on more teams to 64 because we are not going to be with our sponsor, it’s the schools to facilitate themselves, that’s why did so.”
