Buddo Secondary School’s basketball prowess has shone brightly in the past two editions of the championship, securing triumph in Arusha, Tanzania. Now, their sights are set on a triumphant hat-trick, an accomplishment that would further cement their legacy in East African secondary school sports.

Beyond basketball, Buddo Secondary School is also vying for the Netball Championship, further demonstrating their versatile athletic capabilities. Jessy Asiimwe, the astute Netball coach, shares insights into their preparation strategy, stating, “Our team is in the final stages of an intensive training regimen as we approach the impending games. Our focus lies in augmenting the team’s skill set and enhancing their endurance for hour-long matches.” Unlike national competitions, the East Africa Games demand sustained performance over the course of an hour, necessitating meticulous conditioning and tactical finesse. Coach Asiimwe reaffirms their commitment, saying,

“Despite the limited time remaining, we are primed and ready. Our players’ fitness levels have been fine-tuned, and we’ve imparted them with advanced techniques and strategies, ensuring they’re prepared for the unique challenges of the championship.”

“USSSA games hold a special place in my heart, as the Games Teacher responsible for both Basketball and Netball. The dedication and effort that USSSA puts into organizing these games have a profound impact on our sports community. It’s truly inspiring to witness how USSSA’s focus on grassroots development leads to the discovery and nurturing of raw talents.

These games serve as a fertile ground where young athletes can showcase their skills, passion, and dedication to their chosen sports. Through USSSA games, we’ve witnessed the emergence of promising players who have gone on to excel not only at the regional level but also on the national stage. This nurturing of talent from its earliest stages is what sets USSSA apart.

The ability to identify these talents at such an early stage has a ripple effect on the overall growth of different sports disciplines in our country. USSSA’s commitment to providing a platform for young athletes to shine not only promotes healthy competition but also fosters a culture of sportsmanship and teamwork.

As a sports educator, I am truly grateful for the positive influence USSSA games have on our sports landscape. The dedication, hard work, and passion that USSSA brings to the table are instrumental in shaping the future of sports in our nation.” – Marion Atwegyeise, Games Teacher in charge of Basketball and Netball
