Bukedea given greenlight in readiness to host FEASSSA games 2024.

FEASSA (Federation of East Africa School Sports Associations) Inspections for 2024 has been concluded in Eastern Uganda the hosting region, and positive feedback from the visiting delegation have been put forward . The inspection contingent, comprising representatives from Rwanda, Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda(hosts) was warmly welcomed by Rev.Can .Dr. Duncans Mugumya – Head of Delegation Uganda

During their visit, the Commissioner of physical education Rev.Can .Dr. Duncans Mugumya on behalf of the state minister of sports Hon. Peter Ogwang assured the delegation of Uganda’s readiness to host the games and thanked them for the sprint of East Africa brotherhood.

The inspection started on 18th of June 2024, and the delegation embarked on the activities in Bukedea district, to assess progress of the host schools (Bukedea Comprehensive and) in both accommodation and competition venues with the primary objective of ensuring that the proposed facilities meet the high standards set by FEASSA. The delegation carefully evaluated various aspects, including the quality and suitability of accommodation, as well as the venues for different sporting disciplines.

As a result of the inspection, the delegation has made remarks regarding the sports pitches and facilities. There was a need to identify pitches for specific disciplines as follows: one hockey pitch, one football pitch, and one rugby pitch. These recommendations aim to ensure that each sporting discipline has suitable and dedicated venues for the upcoming games.

The inspection team was pleased with the level of preparedness displayed by Uganda through the two host schools, the recommended venues and accommodations meet the required standards for hosting the FEASSSA games though with further improvements. These recommendations will contribute to the smooth organization and execution of the sporting event.

With the conclusion of the first FEASSA Inspection 2024, Uganda is now supposed to improve on not yet to be finished facilities before the final inspection in mid July. The positive feedback from the visiting delegation along with the approved venues and accommodations further solidifies Uganda’s position as a capable and well-prepared host nation but with some improvement .
