The highly entertaining Bunyoro Zonal Ball Games II qualifiers came to a close on a high note, with schools showcasing their athletic prowess in various disciplines. Hosted by St Theresa Girls Secondary School and Victory High School Masindi, the event saw participating schools battle it out for top honors in volleyball, netball, dancesport, athletics, and football.
Champions
The cream of the crop emerged as follows:
- Netball Girls: Trinity Catholic High School (1st), Bwikya Muslim SS (2nd)
- Football U16 Girls: Panyadoli SS (1st), Kagadi SS (2nd)
- Football U16 Boys: Panyadoli SS (1st), Charlene SS (2nd)
- Volleyball Girls: Trinity Catholic High School (1st), Adalante Africa SS (2nd)
- Volleyball Boys: St Andrea Kaahwa’s College (1st), Masindi SS (2nd)
- Athletics Boys: Masindi District (1st), Kinuube District (2nd)
- Athletics Girls: Masindi District (1st), Kikuube District (2nd)
- Dancesport Boys and Girls: Masindi SS (1st), Greenfield (2nd)
Closing Ceremony
The closing ceremony was graced by the Masindi District Secondary School Sports Chairman, who extended his gratitude to the games teachers and headteachers for their unwavering support. He also emphasized the importance of discipline, urging students to behave and strive for excellence in both academics and sports.
The Bunyoro Zonal Secondary School Association General Secretary commended the participating schools and encouraged others to join in and prepare for the next season.
Road to National Games
As the dust settles on the Bunyoro Zonal Ball Games II, attention now turns to the upcoming National Games. The following schools have qualified to represent Bunyoro Zone in the National Games, set to take place at Teso College Aloet from July 9th to August 18th:
- Netball: Trinity Catholic High School, Bwikya Muslim SS, Masindi SS, and Masindi Army SS
- Volleyball Boys: St. Andrea Kaahwa’s College, Masindi Army SS, and Trinity Catholic High School
- Volleyball Girls: Trinity Catholic High School, Adalante Africa SS, and Mandela SS
- Football Under 16 Boys: Panyadoli SS and Charlene SS
- Under 16 Girls: Panyadoli SS and Kagadi SS
- Dancesport: Masindi SS and Green Field SS.
These schools will face stiff competition from other zones, but their preparation and determination will undoubtedly make them a force to be reckoned with.
