Uganda Representatives at this year’s edition of the CAF schools U15 football championship St Mary’s Kitende and St Noa, will start the campaign against Somalia and Burundi respectively as the event kicks off Tuesday morning at the Hosting St Mary’s Stadium.
The five day event has attracted 9 teams across CECAFA region with 5 boys and 4 girls teams and according to the fixture released on Monday morning, Kitende will be taking on Somalia in the second boys’ game at 11:00am while St Noa will play later at 2:00pm against Burundi in the second girls game.
The competition will be played in a league format and that the team with the most points in each category will be the champions to represent the Zone at the CAF African Schools Football Championship Finals set to take place next year at a venue to be named.
While addressing the teams and team managers on Monday evening, Yusuf Mossi, the Competitions Director of the Council of East and Central Africa Football Associations (CECAFA) highlighted the objectives of the competition as helping the young talents grow into the game and identify themselves for a better future.
He also said that the young would be accorded skills like media, safety, medical, and refereeing that will open their doors.
The games will be played for 20 minutes each half and for the first time, the girls will also play 11-aside and full pitch, from the 8-aside half pitch that was used in the last two editions, just like the boys.
St. Mary’s Boarding School Kitende Kitende and Kawempe Muslim are the defending champions after having won the last edition that was held in Nairobi, Kenya.
Since it’s a round robin, the headline should be……start…..
Not ……play……
