Inaugurated in 2022 (11th – 16th December), and executed on several dates and in several venues, USSSA Capacity Building has been a game changer in the school sports community.
USSSA Capacity Building was started with the following objectives.
- Skilling of teachers and students in areas of
- Coaching,
- Refereeing,
- Media,
- Sports Administration
- First Aid and Injury Management
- Safeguarding
- Reducing the cost of running sports in schools
- Introduce students to professional careers earlier
- Create manpower for mass sports
To this date, we have trained up to 11,485 participants who have helped shape the school sports landscape.
It is important to note that raining and Certification is done by respective National Federations (Certificate of Merit) and USSSA only issues certificates of participation.
Out Comes
The training in the different areas has seen a tremendous shift and registered success in various areas as noted below;
- Strengthened schools’ internal capacity to handle sports
- Reduction in cost of running School Sports
- Students officiating at all level
- Better branding of the games
- Encouraged mass sport
- Created employment opportunities for students
- Increased manpower for federations
- We have deployed and worked with trained media officers to improve our communication unit.
- Our trained media officers have been appointed as professional club media correspondents
