Department of Physical Education and Sports (PES) in the Ministry of Education and Sports has organized an evaluation workshop for national educational institutions physical education and sports programs at the Vocational and Training institute in Ntinda.
Rev. Canon Doctor Mugumya Duncans , the commissioner Physical Education and Sports during his opening remarks emphasized the need to work together.
“Let us work together and support one another. All of us here no matter the level of education are a team and that is the only way to grow and develop talent”.
The commissioner also commended the UPSSA Delegation for the initiative they took plant trees while in Soroti during their ball games last year. A total of 104 trees were planted in Soroti by the members as a way of giving back to the community.
During the ball games held by USSSA in 2022 at Dr. Obote College ,Boroboro a running track was also made as a temporary solution but this has gone on to be used by the community and students.For this, the commissioner recommended USSSA and its leadership.

Mugisha Christopher Banage , Chief Executive Officer USSSA made the presentation on behalf of USSSA.
Mugisha outlined the activities USSSA as well as the championships organized by USSSA.
Mr. Mugisha went on to highlight some of the challenges faced by the association such as continued use of non bonafide learners but pointed out the online registration system that is helping streamline data on all athletes.
The delegate from university was grateful to USSSA for ensuring talent is prepared in secondary school before they join university .
“I would like to thank Mr, Mugisha and USSSA for the work well done to ensure we receive the athletes when they are ready because at university level we don’t start with teaching the basics because the students already know what to do”.Mr. Kayongo from Association of Uganda University Sports.
“If we don’t do a good job at the university we will have jeopardized all efforts of USSSA that Mr. Mugisha mentioned earlier”. Kisenyi Vincent ,Vice President , Association Uganda University Sports
In conclusion
Assistant Commissioner PES, Odong Sammy thanked the department for organizing the meeting saying it has been long overdue.
He advised members to build synergies in their respective organizations.
Ms Dember Hajarah,Principal Education Officer as a resolve requested that the association should invite one another for their activities as a way of learning from each-other.
