FEASSA Games 2024: Uganda scoops gold and silver – handball

Kibuli SS outshone Gombe SS in the girls’ final while Wampeewo Ntake SS settled for silver after falling short to Rwandan outfit Adegi HC in the boys handball final.

Uganda was the overall winner for the FEASSA Games 2024. Uganda managed to collect 13 gold medals of which Girls’ handball was crucial to this collection.

In a complete turn of events, Team Uganda continued to spring their dominance in handball over the East African region.

In an all Ugandan final played at Bukedea Primary playground, Kibuli SS won the girls’ regional crown for the first time since 2019.

Aber Priscilla, handball team captain Kibuli SS anchored in the emotions paradise was full of gratitude and appreciation.

“I feel very relieved and happy that I have delivered this trophy for the first time since 2019. We have been trying and failing but we kept believing and today I feel proud of myself, my teammates and team Uganda at large.”

In the boys’ category, Rwanda was more than exceptional and clinical infront of goal that Uganda could only settle for silver.

A game that served those final vibes, filled with anxiety, grit and hunger saw Rwandan side Adegi beat Uganda 33-30.

At Halftime, the game was tied at 17-17 which with either side tabling it’s A- game.

The second half was an all round turn of fortunes as team Rwanda managed to neutralize Uganda’s threat especially in attack.

Adegi HC (Rwanda) held it’s nerve and stood strong defensively till the last minute to grab gold.
