Uganda put on a brilliant show at the Federation of East Africa Schools Sports Association (FEASSA) Games 2025, stamping its presence in both the primary and secondary schools athletics categories. The athletics action kicked off on Tuesday, 19th August and continued with more rigid yet exciting events on Wednesday, 20th August at Eregi Teachers Training College in Kenya.


In the primary schools category, Uganda’s youngsters displayed resilience, finishing second overall behind hosts, Kenya. The girls’ team led the way with 6 gold, 8 silver, and 8 bronze medals (22 total), while the boys added 2 gold, 7 silver, and 9 bronze medals (18 total). This brought Uganda’s combined tally in the primary competitions to an impressive 8 gold, 15 silver, and 17 bronze medals making 40 in total.
Among the standout performers was 13-year-old Nickson Komagum, who became Uganda’s youngest medalist after clinching bronze in the triple jump. “It wasn’t easy competing against taller and older athletes, but I thank God for helping me secure this bronze,” Nickson said proudly.
In the secondary schools events, Uganda continued to prove its potential, battling Kenya and Tanzania fiercely in both track and field competitions. Ugandan runners impressed in middle- and long-distance races, while also showing growing strength in the sprints with speed and endurance that won the crowd’s admiration.


Nakaima Shadia of Iganga Town View, a gold medalist of Javelin Throw expressed in an interview, “The competition was rigid but I am so happy to bring this medal home.”
Despite Kenya’s continued dominance, collecting a massive 61 medals in the primary and 48 in the secondary events, Uganda’s collective performance was a source of pride. Many hailed it as proof of the country’s steady progress in school athletics and a sign of even greater promise for the future.
