In preparation for the highly anticipated USSSA Ball Games II Championship, Mutyaba Bashir, the representative of the Federation of Ugandan Football Associations (FUFA), visited the proposed venues to ensure they meet the necessary requirements for hosting the tournament. As part of the USSSA program, the championship will feature various sports disciplines, including football, with four categories catering to different age groups and genders.
Football enthusiasts can expect thrilling matches in the Under 16 boys and girls categories, as well as the Under 14 boys and girls categories. Notably, the Under 14 tournament holds additional significance as it will serve as a qualifying event for the teams that will represent Uganda in the CAF African Schools Championship, organized by the Council for East and Central Africa Football Associations (CECAFA) at the Zonal levels. This presents a golden opportunity for young Ugandan talents to make their mark on the continental stage.
Yesterday, Mutyaba Bashir, accompanied by a team of officials, conducted an inspection of the potential venues where the matches will take place. The team was pleased to identify approximately eight suitable pitches that have the potential to provide an excellent playing experience for the participating teams and fans. However, they also observed some minor areas that require attention to ensure optimal playing conditions.
Expressing optimism, Mutyaba Bashir stated, “I believe that the local organizing committee will be able to address the minor areas that need improvement. Their dedication and commitment to delivering a top-notch tournament are evident, and I have full confidence that the pitches will be ready to host the matches come 9th of July.”
