
The semifinals of the Masindi Municipality Qualifiers, held yesterday at Masindi Stadium, were a true spectacle of sportsmanship, skill, and determination. The day’s events were filled with thrilling matches, shocking upsets, and nail-biting penalty shootouts.

In the boys’ category, the defending champions, Kabalega SS, faced off against Masindi SS in a highly anticipated match. The game ended 1-1 at full time, forcing the teams to engage in a penalty shootout. Masindi SS emerged victorious, winning 4-2 in the penalties and sending the 2024 champions packing.
Meanwhile, Masindi Army SS clashed with Green Field SS in another intense semifinal match. The game also ended 1-1 at full time, leading to a penalty shootout. Masindi Army SS triumphed, winning 5-4 in the penalties and securing their spot in the finals.
The girls’ teams also delivered an action-packed semifinal match, as St Theresa Girls, the 2024 champions, took on Masindi Army SS.


The game ended in a penalty shootout, with Masindi Army SS emerging victorious, winning 4-3 and sending the defending champions home.
In another girls’ semifinal match, Masindi SS dominated Excel High, winning 2-0 at full time and booking their spot in the finals.
The community members in attendance praised and appreciated the Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) for their efforts in ensuring that only eligible students participated in the tournament.
“At least this edition, students are playing against students,” one community member noted.
We expect much from them, and we’re excited to see the talent on display.
Today, March 10th, 2025, the stage is set for the finals of the Masindi Municipality Qualifiers.
Masindi SS will face off against Masindi Army SS in both the boys’ and girls’ football categories.
