For school sports for better

Girls Football: Uganda Martyrs, Kawempe Muslim set for final showdown. -All you need to know.

Familiar foes in the girls’ football final. Uganda Martyrs High School Lubaga will play Kawempe Muslim to determine Buganda Schools champions in a game to be played on 16th March at Kawanda SS.

Rayan’s Daniella Nakato deflected a shot into her own net in the semi finals which saw Uganda Martyrs advance to the finals.

Meanwhile Kawempe put up a five star show against Trinity College Nabbingo to book date with Martyrs.

Promise Kwagalakwe, Tracy Nabalanzi, Monica Nanono, Dorcus Kisakye and Mebel Adong were on target for the young valley warriors.

Repeat of last year’s final

Kawempe Muslim made light work of Uganda Martyrs in last year’s edition with goals from Agnes Nabukenya, Monica Nanono and an own goal by Moureen Kizza.

Coach Moses Nkata will lock horns with Uganda Martyrs’ Shafic Mutebi a year later to gauge the progress made by either side.

Its key to note that Kawempe is still in possession of last year’s goal scorer Monica Nanono although will miss services of goal machine Agnes Nabukenya who is away for National duty with the teen cranes.

Past meetings

From last year’s final the two sides have met on a couple of occasions where Kawempe has been more successful.

At the 2024 Kampala zone finals, Uganda Martyrs beat Kawempe Muslim 1-0 to lift the title.

Thereafter Kawempe beat Uganda Martyrs 5-4 in penalties after playing out a goalless draw at the USSSA National Ball Games I in Ndejje.

Earlier this year, Kawempe beat Uganda Martyrs 1-0 in group stages at the 2025 Elite Secondary School Games in Mpigi.

Who will get the better of the other in this year’s girls football final?
