”I WANT TO PREPARE FOR LIFE AFTER RETIREMENT.” JUSTINE BABIRYE STRONG STATEMENT

As the USSSA capacity building training intensifies in different parts of the country, instructors have gone on to praise the participant’s performance where as them(participants) share their perspectives on the training and reveal their targets.

Chris Voss once said “Sleeping in the same bed and dreaming different dreams”

Justine Babirye truly portrays Voss’ meaning of the quote. Babirye is a vacist from Broadway High School Kawempe and is currently attaining knowledge in netball umpiring at level i of the USSSA Capacity Building training taking place at Lubiri Secondary School in Kampala.

“Sleeping in the same bed, dreaming differently.” As her fellow participants are dreaming of becoming professional international umpires, Babirye is looking at her future after retirement.

However, it may seem Babirye has the same dream of taking on umpiring as a career as her fellows, her statement carries heavy weight which truly defines a knowledgeable and strategic lady she is.

Africa has got many talented athletes and some have made it to the international scene but unfortunately reports show that after retirement these legends, heroes live a misery life. Some attribute it to lack of education which leads to poor planning.

to the writer, this should be attributed to athletes seeing and devoting their whole life in sports not torching in their future. Most of them believe that they are still young so they have time work for their future not putting into consideration circumstances like injuries, life expulsion due to different areas which automatically leads to forced retirement.

Babirye is a netball player who expects the USSSA capacity building training to build her career after throwing in the towel leaving the court happily.

“I know time will come when i can no longer step on court to play, but with this course i will be officiating because i want to keep in the game.” Babirye said.

The USSSA capacity building training continues till Friday 13th.
