Uganda Secures Thrilling Victory in ISF World Schools Basketball Championship Opener

In an electrifying start to the ISF World Schools Basketball Championship, Uganda’s national team emerged victorious in their opening game against Brazil, winning 45-41 in overtime.

The highly anticipated match took place at the University of Macao arena in China, with Uganda facing off against a formidable Brazilian team. Despite a slow start, which saw Uganda trailing 9-8 at the end of the first quarter, the team rallied in the second quarter to take a 16-10 lead.

Brazil refused to back down, however, and the two teams engaged in a back-and-forth battle that saw Uganda ultimately prevail in overtime. Marial Mandiria was the star of the show, scoring 10 points and leading his team to a hard-fought victory.

Coach Egau Johnathan praised his team’s resilience and determination despite the fatigue after arriving late.

The boy’s were down but in the upcoming games we will rectify the mistakes and return when we are more strong to fight for more wins” he said

The Ugandan team will face off against Chile in their next match, scheduled for June 25 at 13:45 local time in Macao. With their confidence soaring and their sights set on the championship title.
