ISF BASKETBALL: Uganda’s winning streak ends with a narrow loss to Mongolia.

Uganda’s basketball team fell short against Mongolia, losing 51-50 in a nail-biting contest today. Despite leading the first two quarters, Uganda’s momentum faltered in the third, allowing Mongolia to tie the game in the final quarter.

Edrine Ekau emerged as Uganda’s standout player, scoring an impressive 20 points. However, the team’s inability to secure a win means they missed an opportunity to cement their quarterfinal spot.

Uganda now tops Group D with 5 points, while Serbia and Mongolia trail closely with 4 points each. The team will face Serbia in their final group fixture on Saturday, 29th.

Coach Egau Jonathan attributed the loss to his team’s lack of focus and failure to follow instructions. “The boys lacked concentration on the court, and we failed to win comfortably as we had planned. They relaxed and didn’t follow instructions,” he said.

However, Coach Egau remains optimistic, viewing this setback as a valuable lesson for both the players and the technical team. “This will serve as a lesson for us in the upcoming games,” he added.
