ISF GYMNASIADE BAHRAIN 2024: Team Uganda officially flagged off.

Overview

Uganda will participate in the ISF Gymnasiade Bahrain 2024 which runs from 23rd to 31st October 2024. Mbogo Mixed SS, Mbogo High School, Mbogo College School, Rubaga Girls’ School, Kibuli SS and Seroma Christian High School will lift the Ugandan flag in Manama.

Team Uganda comprising of 94 members that is 52 athletes, Ministry of Education and Sports and USSSA officials, team managers, coaches and media were officially flagged off to represent Uganda in Manama city of Bahrain at the ISF Gymnasiade at an event that took place at Cooper Chimney Lugogo on 21st October.

The Commissioner Physical Education and Sports, Ministry of Education and Sports Rev. Can. Dr. Duncans Mugumya was chief guest at the event and USSSA President Justus Mugisha will be the leader of delegation while Zziwa Troy Adrian lawn tennis player from Kibuli SS and Nanyonga Maria, basketball player from Seroma Christian High School will captain team Uganda.

” You are travelling to Bahrain as team Uganda and not individual schools! Therefore make sure you represent us to your very best. Represent your motherland with pride and love.”- Rev. Can. Dr. Duncans Mugumya emphasized as he flagged off the Ugandan ambassadors.

” For our dear athletes, today marks a different chapter in your careers as you are representing Uganda at a different stage. This imposes different obligations and key of them is discipline. On top of that, you must have that winning mentality. I want to bear witness that team Uganda has been well prepared.” Hajji Twahil Kiteezaala, 1st Vice president USSSA remarked while addressing the delegation and media.

Ambrose Tashobya, Chairperson National Council of Sports. “Find comfort in giving your best. Winning a medal is not in your control but giving your best is the best gift you can give to yourself and you will be contented. Use this opportunity that you have very well.”

“My prayer is that you should become good ambassadors of our country Uganda. I want to thank, commissioner and your team for preparing these athletes because I have been following these preparations as covered by the media. One thing we can be sure of is that you are going to bring us medals and make the country proud.”- Bernard Ogwel General Secretary, National Council of Sports.

The contingent will depart tomorrow 22nd October at Entebbe Airport and will return on 1st November next month
