ISF: Team Uganda flagged off to China for Football World cup.

Overview

Uganda will be represented by four schools at the Football World Cup in Dalian, China. St. Mary’s College Kisubi, Bukedea Comprehensive School will compete in boys football category while Amus College School will play in both boys and girls.

The delegation that will represent Uganda has officially been flagged off today morning at an event that took place at Cooper Chimney-Lugogo by Hon Peter Ogwang, State Minister for Sports Ministry of Education and Sports.

During his speech as the chief guest and also leader of delegation, he emphasized the importance of being disciplined as ambassadors of the country on and off the field while in Dalian.

As you go to China remain disciplined! I also want everyone traveling to forget about their schools. We are going as team Uganda that’s why we were pooled as Uganda 1, 2, 3 and 4 and not the individual schools,” he stressed further.

Team Uganda was flagged off in presence of other officials that included Rev. Can. Duncan Mugumya – Commissioner Physical Education and Sports, Ministry of Education and Sports, Patrick Okanya – Assistant Leader of Delegation to China and David Katende -Assistant General Secretary National Council of Sports.

“It’s on record that since we started taking students for International competitions, we have not had any case of players running or remaining in those countries. That goes back to patriotism that we teach in our schools,” Rev. Can. Duncan Mugumya remarked

Me I believe if we engage in such games our players should get chance to join better academy’s with better structures if chance Goten not blocking them that we want to come back with them in disguise of patriotism.
