January Capacity Building training comes to a close in Sebei.

Overview

The USSSA Capacity Building and Training program officially came to an end at Sebei College Tegeres on 17th January 2024.

The training attracted a total of 161 students and games teachers from majorly Sebei zone from districts of Kapchorwa, Kween, Bukwo, Mbale among others.

The program started on 12th January with reporting of participants and ended on 17th with awarding of certificates upon completion of the the 6- day empowerment course.

Participants were trained in four disciplines that is football, netball, volleyball and athletics in areas of coaching, refereeing and umpiring.

Attendance by numbers

  • Football Coaching – 41
  • Football Refereeing – 40
  • Netball (Umpiring) – 22
  • Volleyball refereeing- 13
  • athletics (elementary) – 45

The training attracted a total of 161 students and games teachers from majorly Sebei zone from districts of Kapchorwa, Kween, Bukwo, Mbale among others.

What next?

Considering the fact that the participants were given basic training in the various courses (elementary and beginners), the cause is expected to ignite a special spirit of sportsmanship on top of the knowledge they attained.

Makwa Joseph, Chairperson Region Management Committee, Bugisu Sebei SESEMAT Organisation also chief guest at the closing ceremony emphasized the importance of skills attained during and putting them into practice.

“Do not leave the skills you have been given here! Go out and make Sebei great.”

Limo Johnson Head teacher, Sebei College Tegeres was full of praise of USSSA and the Ministry of Education and Sports for extending this program to Sebei zone.

“I would like to thank USSSA for bringing this program to Sebei especially Sebei College Tegeres as it will improve our sports greatly. We have been lacking specialists in all fields but after this training am very sure it will change.”
