Kabale Celebrates World Kids Athletics Day with Enthusiasm


Kabale Municipal Stadium was abuzz with excitement on World Kids Athletics Day, as over 500 young athletes, including those with special needs, gathered to showcase their talents. The event was blessed by a delegation from the Uganda Athletics Federation (UAF), led by President Mr. Dominic Otucet and Vice President Mr. Kavuma Lawrence.

The celebrations kicked off at 9:00 AM, with the kids participating in various fun and engaging athletic activities. The UAF delegation expressed their delight in being part of this special day, highlighting the importance of nurturing young talent in athletics.

According to President Otucet, Uganda pioneered Kids Athletics in 2012, becoming the first country worldwide to implement the program. Today, Uganda proudly ranks second globally in Kids Athletics, surpassed only by the United States of America.

The event aimed to promote physical activity, teamwork, and healthy competition among children, while also identifying and nurturing young athletic talent. The Uganda Athletics Federation’s efforts to develop Kids Athletics have yielded impressive results, positioning the country as a leader in youth athletics development.

The kids had a blast participating in various athletic events, and the special needs segment was particularly heartwarming, showcasing the inclusivity and diversity of the program. The UAF delegation’s presence underscored the federation’s commitment to supporting young athletes across the country.

World Kids Athletics Day serves as a platform to inspire and empower young people to adopt active lifestyles, develop their athletic potential, and build confidence. The celebrations in Kabale were a testament to the power of sports to unite and uplift communities.
