Kawempe made a remarkable debut at the CAF African Schools Football Championship, topping Group B with seven points and remaining unbeaten. They drew 1-1 with South Africa on Tuesday, 21st, and defeated Togo and Gambia 2-0 each on Wednesday, 22nd, securing a semi-final spot.

Although their title hopes were dashed when they faced Morocco, suffering a painful 1-0 loss after conceding in the first minute, Kawempe rebounded in the third-place playoff against Tanzania.
Exhibiting resilience and determination, they beat Tanzania 1-0 thanks to Cynthia Kirenga’s second-half goal.

From the start, Kawempe showed their intent, and although the game was goalless at half-time.
They took a well-deserved lead nine minutes into the second half through Cynthia Kirenga’s close-range finish. Kawempe’s defense was solid, denying Tanzania’s late efforts, and securing the bronze medal.

Shadia Nabirye was also named the championship’s top scorer, netting three goals in five matches. She scored against South Africa, Togo, and Gambia.

As bronze medalists, Uganda (Kawempe) received $150,000 in prize money, a testament to their impressive performance throughout the tournament.
