Kisozi Seed SS from Gomba district and Highway SS,Kiganda from Kasanda district had both their boys and girls teams qualify for the national games in April 2024.
The Mpigi zone National Boys’ football championship and Fresh Dairy girls’ qualifiers were successfully completed at Kabulasoke Core PTC in Gomba district on 6th April.
Mpigi zone is made up of several districts namely Gomba Mityana, Kasanda Butambala and Mpigi.
The various games were played at various venues such as Bukandula, Kanoni, Kabulasoke core PTC and Kasaka.
During the closing ceremony the chairperson Mpigi Mr. Ssebanenya Vincent zone thanked the teachers who followed the rules and regulations and selected the rightful players. He also appreciated USSSA Management for sending Teddy Awori a member of USSSA Secretariat staff to help in verifying the teams because there were so many ineligible players.
The teams expected to turn up were thirty two for the boys but only twenty eight turned up while for the girls they were fifteen but only eleven turned up.
Mumsa High School ,Mityana were the champions after overcoming Highway SS Kiganda 3-1 and Kisozi Seed came third after overcoming Bulo Parents SS from Butambala.
Highway SS girls were the girls’ champion while Kisozi Seed SS were second.
MUMSA High School from Mityana produced the top scorer with 6 goals Nsereko Oscar while the best goalkeeper was also from MUMSA.
While for the girls, the top score was from Shamma High School in Mityana Namuddu Phiona and MVP was from Highway SS Kiganda also the captain of the team; Nabukeera Janat.
Fresh Dairy Secondary school games will take place at Ndejje SS while the National Boys’ Football Boys’ Championship will take place in at Masaka Secondary School in Masaka both starting on the 26th April to 5th May 2024 respectively.
