For school sports for better

Lacrosse makes third appearance at USSSA Ball games

A total of 9 schools are participating in Lacrosse at the ongoing Ball games II Champioship in Tororo.

Five of these are girls’ schools while the other four are boys.

While Lacrosse has been in Uganda for 15 years spreading the sport in schools started over a decade later .Nabisunsa Girls’ school was one of the schools that took up to sport when they were approached the very first time according to Mbabazi Liberty the Lacrosse Uganda President.

There are several other schools that have taken on the sport for example as Muzza High, Empower International, Bombo Army, Lowell Girls and St. Peters College Tororo.

“We are glad that lacrosse is part of USSSA ball games for the third year in a row. We hope to get more schools on board.”

Mbabazi also agrees that the sport is an expensive one in terms of equipment and that’s why this is provided to schools by the federation. “A stick used to play lacrosse costs about 400,000 to 500,000 Uganda shillings which by all means is expensive for learners and school. However we at Lacrosse Uganda provide all the equipment to schools right from sticks to chest guards and helmets for safety”.

Lacrosse will be one of the demonstration games at this years FEASSA games in Kakamega ,Kenya this August.
