Masaka Zone: Masaka SS Crowned Champions As Norte Dame, and Wagwa High School Qualify for Nationals

The USSSA National Boys Football Championship 2025 Masaka Zone qualifiers have come to an end, with Masaka SS emerging as champions. The tournament, which took place from April 8th to 13th in Lyantonde, saw 47 schools participate in the competition.

In the final match, Masaka SS defeated Norte Dame High School 2-0, with Mukisa Thomas scoring in the first half and captain Shabil Lubega sealing the win in the second half. Norte Dame High School put up a good fight, but Masaka SS’s strong defense and strategic gameplay ultimately led to their victory.

Wagwa High School secured the third spot after defeating St. Henry’s Kitovu 9-8 on penalties in the third-place playoff. The match had ended goalless after regular time, and Wagwa High School showed their skill and composure in the penalty shootout.

The top three teams – Masaka SS, Norte Dame High School, and Wagwa High School – have qualified for the USSSA National Boys Football Championship 2025, which will take place from May 5th to 15th at Ngora High School. The three teams will represent the Masaka Zone in the national tournament, competing against other zonal champions for the top prize.

The qualifiers were hosted by St. Gonzaga Kijjukizo, and the tournament saw some exciting matches and impressive performances from the participating teams. The success of the Masaka Zone teams in the nationals will depend on their preparation, teamwork, and determination.
