The Uganda Secondary School Sports Association (USSSA) and the Department of Physical Education and Sports have been alerted to a serious issue threatening the integrity of school sports. It has come to our attention that some students aided by schools intending to use them, re-sit for the Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) while forging a later birth date, thereby fraudulently altering their age eligibility to compete in younger age categories.
This practice not only compromises the safety of student-athletes but also constitutes a serious offense under sports law.
Our system has identified suspicious cases, and the affected athletes will be deactivated from competition until they clear their names. Their respective schools have been notified.
Furthermore, the Commissioner of Physical Education and Sports has convened a committee comprising USSSA and Department of Physical Education and Sports staff. This committee will investigate the matter and conduct hearings with implicated school headteachers, games teachers, and athletes.
Attached is the list of schools and athletes under investigation. Please note that schools and individuals who skip the summons will face sanctions.
We urge anyone with information regarding this practice to come forward and share it with USSSA.
