Official Statement: Jinja Progressive Academy Expelled from U-20 Nationals

PRESS RELEASE
13th May, 2025

Ngora, Uganda — The Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) has expelled Jinja Progressive Academy from the ongoing 2025 U-20 National Boys’ Football Championship hosted at Ngora High School. This disciplinary action follows serious violations during and after their semifinal match against St. Mary’s Boarding Secondary School Kitende on May 13, 2025.

Following an investigation by the National Organizing Committee, the school was found guilty of:

  • Fielding ineligible players, Isabirye Adrian and Ntege Musa, both of whom had accumulated two yellow cards.
  • Engaging in violent conduct, including the assault of match officials and incitement of crowd violence — a breach of USSSA Rules 8.1 and 8.2.

As a result, the following sanctions have been imposed:

  • Forfeiture of the semifinal match.
  • Immediate expulsion from the championship.
  • Immediate eviction from the games village and surrounding areas in Ngora District.
  • Further disciplinary action will be communicated after briefing the Ministry of Education and Sports.

USSSA remains committed to upholding discipline, integrity, and fair play in all its competitions.

Nedda lets just say the truth that ebyadala Abasoga balina efujo elyekisilu kati bagala lituusa ku national level mbu bajje bakyankalanye neeno nedda thats y we won’t allow them to brag with the trophy ever

  2. I am ok with the decision taken by USSSA. But also I request that Genuine and unbiased match officials be used, Identification of ineligible players be done in the match preparation time by looking at the lineups. all these would help avoid issues, JIPRA has suffered many times not only this 2025,

  3. Usssa disciplinary committee should also look at the cause of the act not only the act. I know SMACK remain innocent but the referees should be also cautioned. JIPRA expressed their worries about the officiating team before the match. It was the work of the committee to look for justice for JIPRA which was under looked.
Conclusion. I say no to hooliganism in football.

Why don’t you communicate to the club before the match and always wait until the situation goes out of control, is that promoting sports and talent or it shows bias? Don’t you think that you also have to check yourselves?
