Qualified Schools Invited for ISF World Championships 2024: Uganda Prepares to Shine on the Global Stage

Kampala, Uganda – Excitement is building in Uganda’s school sports community as several Qualified secondary schools are invited for the prestigious International Schools Sports Federation (ISF) World School Championships in 2024. These championships, set to take place in various locations around the world, will feature talented athletes representing Uganda on the global stage.

Volleyball Champions Lead the Way

The journey to ISF World Championships glory begins with the ISF World Schools Volleyball Championship, scheduled for April 19 to 29, 2024, in Belgrade, Serbia. The boys’ category will see Standard High School Zana, the national champion, leading the charge, with support from Bukedea Comprehensive College and Namugongo Vocation & Secondary School, both national finalists. On the girls’ side, St. Elizabeth Girls School, the national champion, will be joined by Ngora High School, a national finalist.

Cross Country Excellence in Kenya

Next up will be the ISF World Schools Cross Country Championship, which will take place from May 10 to 15, 2024, in Nairobi, Kenya. Uganda’s cross-country team is FEASSSA’s defending champion in both the girls’ and boys’ categories, having secured victory in 2022.

Football Stars in China

In May 2024, from the 17th to the 27th, the ISF World Schools Football Championship will be held in Dalian, P.R. China. St. Mary’s B. Secondary School Kitende, the FEASSSA and national champions, will represent Uganda in the boys’ category, alongside St. Henry’s College Kitovu and Amus College School, both national finalists. Amus College School, the national champion, will proudly represent Uganda in the girls’ category, along with St. Noa Girls Secondary School, the national finalist, and Kawempe Muslim Secondary School, the FEASSSA champions.

Basketball Stars Head to Macao

From June 23 to July 3, 2024, Macao, China, will host the ISF World Schools Basketball Championship. In the boys’ category, Buddo Secondary School, the FEASSSA and national champions, will showcase their skills, with Elite High School Entebbe as the national finalist. The girls’ category will see St. Mary’s Boarding Secondary School Kitende, the FEASSSA and national champions, in action, along with St. Noa Girls Secondary School, the national finalist.

Multi-Discipline Gymnasiade in Bahrain

The ISF World Schools Gymnasiade 2024 is set to take place from October 23 to 31, 2024, in Manama, Bahrain. This multi-discipline event will feature talented athletes competing in various sports, including table tennis, badminton, basketball 3×3, tennis, swimming, athletics, chess, and handball.

Table Tennis and Badminton Talent

In the table tennis category, Kibuli Secondary School, the FEASSSA and national champions, will lead the boys’ team, joined by St. Andrews College Ssanda, the national finalist, and Mbogo College School, the FEASSSA finalist. In the girls’ category, Mbogo College School, the national champion, will compete alongside Kibuli Secondary School, the FEASSSA champions, and Kawanda Secondary School, the FEASSSA finalist.

In badminton, Kibuli Secondary School, the FEASSSA and national champions, will represent Uganda in the boys’ category, alongside Kinaawa High School, the national finalist, and Kakungulu Memorial School, the FEASSSA finalist. In the girls’ category, Mbogo High School, the FEASSSA and national champions, will participate, along with Rubaga Girls School, the FEASSSA and national finalist.

Basketball 3×3 and Tennis Excellence

Bethel Covenant College will represent Uganda in the boys’ category of basketball 3×3 as the national champion, along with Buddo Secondary School, the FEASSSA champion, and Hope Secondary School Nakirebe, the national finalist. In the girls’ category, St. Mary’s B. Secondary School Kitende, the FEASSSA and national champions, will compete, joined by Ssaku Secondary School, the national finalist, and Nabisunsa Girls School, the FEASSSA finalists.

Tennis enthusiasts will see Kibuli Secondary School and Ntare School represent Uganda in the boys’ category. In the girls’ category, Kibuli Secondary School and Mt St. Mary’s Namagunga will showcase their talents.

A Call for Confirmation

As the selected schools prepare to take on the world, it’s important to note that confirmation to participate in these championships is expected by September 30, 2023. The nation eagerly awaits the performances of these young athletes, who have already demonstrated their excellence on the national stage.

The Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) and the entire Ugandan sports community are proud of the accomplishments of these talented students, and they will continue to provide support and encouragement as they represent Uganda at the ISF World School Championships 2024.
