Royal Giant High School triumphant, Amus College finish Third 

CAF Pan Africa Schools Football Championship (CECAFA Zone) 2023:

Boys:

·      Royal Giants High School (Uganda) 0 (4) – 0 (2) Geda Royal S.S (Ethiopia)

Girls:

·      Fountain Gate (Tanzania) 3-0 Awaro S.S (Ethiopia)

Uganda’s Royal Giants High School and Tanzania’s Fountain Gate won the boys and girls’ respective categories in the 2023 CECAFA Zone CAF Pan Africa schools football competition in Dar-es-salaam city.

Royal Giants High School overcame Ethiopia’s Geda Royal S.S 4-3 in post-match penalties after normal time had ended goal-less during the boy’s final played at the Azam sports complex, Chamazi on Sunday, February 19, 2023.

The Mityana based school revenged the 4-0 defeat against the same opposition during the last group game.

At the semi-final level, they beat South Sudan’s Libya One whilst Geda Royal S.S were 3-1 winners over Ecofo Gasanda from Burundi.

In the girls’ final, Fountain Gate (Tanzania) defeated Ethiopia’s Awaro S.S 3-0 at the same venue.

To make it to final, Fountain Gate had smiled 3-0 past Kirmuzi MS of Rwanda.

Awaro SS eliminated Uganda’s Amus College School, Bukedea 2-0.

The top champions earned the top prize money (USD 100,000), a trophy apiece, gold medals and a treasured slot to the CAF Pan Africa schools’ finals in Morocco come April 2023.

The runners up (Geda Royal S.S and Awaro S.S) settled for silver medals and a cash prize of USD75,000.

Third place:

Amus College School Bukedea finished third in the girls’ category.

Shakira Logose netted the all-important goal in the second stanza of the closely contested duel against Kiramuzi MS (Rwanda).

Besides the bronze medals, the Ugandan school is also assured of a cash prize of USD 50,000 (at least Ug.shs 190,000,000).
