St. Mary’s College Rushorooza Gears Up to Host USSSA Ball Games

Rushorooza, Uganda – The vibrant atmosphere at St. Mary’s College is abuzz with anticipation as the school prepares to host the prestigious USSSA Ball Games. In a press conference held at the college, officials expressed their warm welcome to all participants and affirmed their readiness to ensure a successful event.

“We wish to welcome all of you to St. Mary’s College and, at the same time, welcome you to this press conference as St. Mary’s College. We accept the host role officially, and we are more than ready,” announced the school HM St Mary’s College.

With meticulous planning and coordination, St. Mary’s College has made extensive arrangements to provide a seamless experience for the participating schools and institutions. The co-hosting institutions include Kabale University, Kabale NTC, Kabale UCC, Kigezi High School, Kigezi High School Primary, Kigezi College Butobere, Kabale Municipal Stadium, St. Paul’s Seminary, St. Maria Gorreti Secondary, St. Theresa Girls Primary, Hombe High School Primary, Hombe High School Secondary, Rubale Secondary, and St. Teresa Primary, among many others.

The college has formed dedicated committees responsible for the welfare and care of the participating learners. The arrangements encompass their accommodation, meals, and overall well-being. “We plan to feed them very well. Of course, we are prepared. We shall provide them with excellent meals, including posho, rice, matoke, meat, and nutritious snacks,” assured Christopher Monday, HM St Mary’s College.

Safety and security have been given utmost priority, with close collaboration with relevant authorities. The involvement of the District Commissioner (DC) and the District Police Commander (DPC) underscores the concerted efforts to ensure a secure environment for all attendees. Health and sanitation measures have also been diligently addressed, including the provision of adequate sanitation facilities and access to clean water.

Transportation facilities have been arranged to facilitate smooth movement within the venue and surrounding areas. The hosting schools generously provided playgrounds for the games, ensuring that participants have suitable venues for their respective sports.

“We have planned meticulously for our duties, and we have extended our reach even to Rwanda District. We believe that the entire Kigezi region will benefit from this event, including the hotel fraternity, food and beverage vendors, and various other sectors,” expressed the representative, highlighting the positive impact the championship will have on the local economy.

The event aligns with the Ministry of Education and Sports’ vision of holistic development for learners. Sports and games play a vital role in physical and psychological development. The college acknowledges the support and guidance of Mama Janet Museveni, who leads the Ministry, and emphasizes the importance of teamwork to achieve success.
