


St. Mary’s Kitende beat St. Noa Girls Secondary School-Zana in the Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) basketball finals of Wakiso district/region 2023 qualifiers.
The game between the Entebbe road schools that ended 51-41 in favor of St. Mary’s was held at WAKISHA headquarters in Wakiso on 1st April.
St. Mary’s Kitende topped group A comprising of host Kisubi Mapeera, Trinity College Nabbingo and St. Peter’s Naalya to advance to quarter-finals.
In the quarter-final, 2022 champions Kitende eliminated Exodus College, Wakiso before they staged a spirited fight to register a slim 32-28 win against old rivals Buddo SS in the Semi-final to book a final date with St. Noa Girls’ School.
The 2019 Wakiso district/region champions St. Noa Girls Secondary School-Zana topped group B.
In the quarter-final, St. Noa beat Watoto by 42-22 to storm regional consecutive final since 2019.
The Zana based side outclassed Trinity College Nabbingo in a landslide 36-6 semi-final to book date with St. Mary’s Secondary Boarding school.
This was the third consecutive Wakiso district/region final between the two sides. Kitende have come out victorious on two occasion coming in 2021 and 2023.
St. Mary’s came from three quarters down to dethrone the 2019 champions St. Noa by 51-41 final clash at WAKISHA headquarters in Wakiso City.
In the boys category, Buddo SS won by 52-41 against Mbogo Mixed to defend the title.
