Team Uganda upbeat after safe arrival in Huye city ahead of 2023 FEASSSA Games kick-off
Uganda’s team delegation at the 20th edition of the Federation of East Africa Secondary School Association (FEASSSA) games arrived safely in Huye city, Rwanda on Thursday night.
This followed their road journey from Kampala and other destinations through Mbarara to Kabale and finally the Katuna boarder.
After successful immigration process at the boarder, the team was well received by the Rwandan authorities, led by the Police through a convoy to Huye stadium.
At the Huye stadium, they were warmly welcomed by the Rwanda Schools Sports Association chief, Huye mayor, FEASSSA president Justus Mugisha and other dignitaries.
“We welcome you to Huye city, Rwanda. The games are set to kick off and we wish you a very good stay throughout the duration of these games” Rwanda school sports chief noted.
Mugisha promised a successful tournament at the games that have outdoor disciplines as well as the racket games.


“We expect a successful FEASSSA tournament. We thank God for the journey mercies and cannot wait for kick-off.” Mugisha remarked.
The games officially get underway on Saturday, August 19, 2023 with an official opening ceremony at Huye stadium and will run until the 27th August 2023.


Uganda is represented by school teams in Basketball (5×5 and 3×3), Netball, Handball, Hockey, Soccer, Volleyball, Rugby (7’s and 15’s), Racket games (Tennis and Badminton), Table Tennis as well as individual teams of Swimming and Athletics.
Meanwhile, Uganda’s delegation held a planning meeting on the afternoon of Friday, 18th August 2023.

St. Mary’s Kitende has been drawn in pool B alongside Kenya’s Silver medalists, Dagoretti High, Kibuli SS (from Uganda), Kiwira Coal Mine (Tanzania) and Rwandese Champs Ecose Musambira

Pool A has: Kenya’s Gold Medalists, St. Anthony’s Boys, Tanzania Champs Kalangalala and Uganda’s Bronze medalists, Amus College. Other teams in the pool are: Shanderema (Kenya), Collège George De Fox De Kagarama (CGFK) and Uganda’s Silver Medalists St. Henry’s College, Kitovu.
