The USSSA Capacity Building Program, which kicked off on February 17, 2025, at Moroto High School – Karamoja, was successfully closed on Friday, February 21, 2025. The program, which attracted 278 participants from the Karamoja region, equipped students, and teachers with skills in football coaching, Football refereeing, Netball Umpiring, athletics coaching, and Volleyball umpiring.
113 participants enrolled in Football Refereeing 67 for football coaching while 41 and 31 participants joined Netball Umpiring and Volleyball Refereeing, respectively. Athletics had 26 that enrolled

The successful participants were awarded certificates of participation from the guest of honor Akol Markson Ojao Moroto district education officer, and Lokiru Andrew Moroto municipality inspector of schools.
Mr. Akol Markson Ojao Moroto district education officer, expressed his zeal to USSSA and the Ministry of Education for their efforts in developing the sports sector in the region mostly putting Karamoja at the forefront.”This is my first time seeing people sports participants involved in all activities” Akol added.

Apolot Godliver USSSA Karamoja zone delegate appreciated the participants from the Karamoja zone for the dedication, discipline, and efforts shown during the five days of capacity building at Moroto High School.
Others in attendance include Anying Nelson, Moroto District sports officer, Nandudu Christine Nakapiripiti district sports officer and Lokiru Andrew.

This marks the first-ever USSSA Capacity Building Training in Karamoja making a major milestone in developing sports professionalism and officiation in the region. Participants will play a vital role in enhancing the quality of school competitions and promoting fair play in Uganda’s secondary school sports scene.
